The
incredible beauty of the state of Michigan is found
in its nature scenes filled with water, woods and
wild animals. Over 50% of Michigan is forested and
Michigan is home to over 11,000 inland lakes meaning
everywhere in Michigan is close to a water adventure.
Michigan also borders four of the Great Lakes giving
it some of the nations best beaches.
Because
of the size and number of Michigan’s lakes
and because of its 3,200 miles of Great Lakes shoreline,
boating and other water recreation activities such
as fishing, diving and snorkeling are very popular
and easy to arrange. In fact, there are more private
boats registered in Michigan than in any other
state in the US!
Rivers
like the Menominee, Michigamme and Sturgeon are
perfect for the canoeist or spring kayaker while
fishermen can enjoy the beauty of Michigan’s
peaceful lakes and streams year round. Because
so much of Michigan is woodland, it is the perfect
place hunting or for ATV or snowmobile riding.
Michigan
has four seasons with recreational opportunities
abounding year round. Michigan is unique in that
it is divided into two peninsulas connected by
the Mackinac bridge. The low rolling hills become
a tableland of hilly belts in the northern part
of Lower Peninsula while the upper Peninsula’s
east side is flat with some swampy areas and the
western side is higher and more rugged.
Home
to over 10 million people, Michigan also sports
a more civilized form of recreation in its big
cities and lovely golf courses. Michigan is the
perfect destination for any type of recreation
or for any type of interest.
